Hoxton Park Bus Depot
Large bus depot and maintenance facilities
This Rohrig design and construct project created an important facility in Sydney’s south-west and handles 235,000 bus trips a year.
Working closely with the client and architects Quattro, we transformed swampland and an old Australian Air Force runway into a state-of-the-art depot. An important part of the value-engineering was rationalising driveway and pavement design to minimise the cost of extensive areas of concrete hardstand.
The new depot has parking for 140 buses, administration offices, wash-bays, spray booth and refuelling facilities. The inground mechanical bays were custom-fabricated from solid steel and built off-site for speed and efficiency.
This project followed the successful Smithfield Transit Centre, which we also completed on a design and construct basis.
Works involved construction of the Dan Murphy’s retail store and partial demolition of the old pub, which was retained and kept open until the new Brook Hotel was ready to trade. Once the new venue was trading, we fully demolished the old building and continued to construct the 60-room hotel.
Construction included a mix of materials used across the gaming room, cold rooms, offices, kitchen, sports bar, main function room and bar, beer garden, terrace, kid’s room and bistro.
Our extensive hospitality expertise, top-tier staff and sub-contractors, and staging excellence helped deliver an exciting new venue for the local community.
